Custom button in CRM WEB UI transaction

Hello gurus,

i need to add additional functionality to a CRM standard transaction, WEB UI.

I need to display a button in the main transaction screen in the main toolbar or in some another visible place.

When this button is pressed i want to display a popup window with some content/or navigate to a new page.

Content of the popup will be calculated by using BOL objects of the current transaction/session.

I know a few variants.

1) Enhance view of the standard component and add new button. Opionally add context nodes in the view. Add event handler which calles the popup.

2) Enhance standard component by adding new assignment block. Add in it button and call popup or fill in contents of the ehnancement block.

3) Play with simple objects and do the same.

My question is is there a variant to do this in a more clever way without enhancing standard component?

I mean eventually with CRM Action?

Is it possible to use in the CRM Action BOL objects of the current transaction.

I have read about BADi EXEC_METHODCALL_PPF and i have implemented it. But im not shure how to do this. I have invested little time in debugging.

If somebody could share source code or some tips it would be helpful.

Thank you,

Rosen
