We have a scenario where ERP is the backend system and complaints are entered in SAP CRM 7.0 EhP1. Variant configuration is used in ERP. We will not be using ERP-integrated complaints transactions. User will be entering the material codes as items in the complaint document only for knowledge purposes. Return requests, credit memos vs will all be handled in ERP manually. So we don't need any configuration information of materials.
As you can tell, in my complaint transaction I will be using iteam category COMP only. Configuration data for this item category is as follows:
Variant matching: Not allowed
Variant matching atc: No replacement
Print Filter ID: (blank)
Background Configuration: Process Standart Configuration on User Interface (info: any other values is not allowed, and i cannot leave this field blank either)
I downloaded the materials from ERP, I did not download SCE, and I did not create any knowledge base (as I will be needing none of them in SAP CRM). When I enter a material in the transaction, item category COMP is found truthfully, but two error messages pop up as:
Item 1000: Configure product <material-number>
Item 1000: No KnowledgeBase Found
Hence I've been using standart complaints item category, first of all why would I want to configure a product which is being complained about (already sold?)
Let me tell you: I wouldn't. The product's item category tells the same thing as well (Variant matching: Not allowed). But it says, "configure product".
Secondly, why would I need KnowledgeBase in this scenario? I don't. But if I have to, what should I do?
